ABOUT US
The Mancy name has been synonymous with the promise of quality, honest value, and family since 1921. Restaurant founder Gus Mancy was born and raised on the Isle of Crete, and moved to Toledo in 1916, bringing with him the tradition of cooking with only the freshest and best ingredients.
MANCY’S RESTAURANTS ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN GOOD FOOD. THEY ARE A TOLEDO LEGACY.
For the descendants of Gus Mancy, food was a way of life. Legend has it that when he and his business partner went to lock up on Christmas Eve 1946, there were no keys to be found. One of them had always been there—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the first 25 years of operation.
Despite their heritage, restaurant work was never an expectation for the Mancy grandchildren. All were expected to go out and hone their skills elsewhere before even considering the family business. Each pursued their own passion and the result is a delicious spectrum of options across the Toledo community.
THAT LEGACY LIVES ON TODAY THROUGH THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION OF HIS GRANDCHILDREN.
Today, the Steakhouse tradition continues under the guidance of cousins, Gus and Mike. George honors their grandmother’s heritage at Mancy’s Italian Grill. John combines the best of land and sea at Mancy’s Bluewater Grille. The family brings authentic pit barbeque into the mix at Shorty’s All-American Roadhouse. While Nick caters excellent food from The Back 40. Allpay homage to the original Mancy’s at The Ideal.
We invite you to come and dine with us, and experience the Mancy family tradition for yourself.
